Thoroughbred Network is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the Thoroughbred as a pleasure, performance and show horse.
The seeds of the Network were sown when Thoroughbred enthusiasts Cleo van Zelst, Amy Savell, Pat Faramarzi and Audra Spouse, all of whom are involved in some facet of the Thoroughbred Industry, met at an equine nutrition seminar.
Through casual conversation, they soon realized that they shared the same love of and concerns for the Thoroughbred, particularly the “off-track Thoroughbred” so often facing a bleak future after its racing career ends.
Each envisioned an organization which could offer educational opportunities to the Thoroughbred enthusiast, promote the Thoroughbred as an all-purpose riding mount and act as a network for people with Thoroughbreds to connect with others looking for Thoroughbreds for pleasure and show and information on how to improve ownership, caretaking, re-training, riding and handling skills.
Realizing that there is strength in numbers, the women decided to join together, share their vision with their Thoroughbred-loving friends, and form an organization that would help raise awareness and make a difference.
